Socio-psychological portrait of a member of the illegal armed formations in the North Caucasus

Abstract

The article highlights and describes the main factors, contributing to the spread of extremist ideas among the active population of the North Caucasus region. The author makes an attempt to offer generalized characteristic of the typological portrait of the persons, capable of committing a terrorist act. Basing on the example of Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia, the author attempts to analyze the intrinsic motivation and the psychology of "heroism" and as well the evolution of social status and of the education level of the members of extremist organizations.
