The journal ‘Federalism’ was set up by the Research Institute of Economics RAN and the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in 1996. The key goal of the journal was to make a publication, where academics and practical researchers could discuss problems and prospects of the Russian model of federative relations and local self-governance development and analyze national features of country regional policy.
Thought there are several journals with similar topics in Russia today, ‘Federalism’ is the only edition, where economic, legal, historical, ethno-cultural and other aspects of federative relations development and local self-governance in the country and all over the world are studied in complex.
During 23 years of life the journal published more than 1,100 articles by scientists, practical researchers, workers of bodies of executive and legislative power of the Russian Federation, including members of the Council of Federation and the State Duma of the Russian Federation, doctorands and post-graduate students.
In 2019 the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics became the founder of the journal.
The Chief Editor of the journal is Professor Valentey, Sergey D., Doctor of Economics.
The editorial board of ‘Federalism’ consists of 5 members of RAN, 3 corresponding-members of RAN and 8 Doctors of Sciences.
The journal was registered in the Federal Service for Supervision in the Field of Communication, Information Technologies and Mass Communications (registration certificate SMI PI №FS77-74878 dated 11.02.2019).
The journal was included in the list of academic reviewed editions, where key research findings of PhD dissertations and Doctor of Science dissertations shall be published.
The journal is indexed in the Russian Index of Academic Citing (RIAC).
