Demography of modern Russia: continuity of development or «catching up modernization»?

Abstract
The article analyzes the condition of modern demographic science in Russia. Basic directions of demographic research, scientific and educational organizations working in this area are specified. It is shown that the major part of scientific heritage of the Russian (Soviet) demography has not been called-for.
